We are pleased to announce that the gallery is officially a finalist in the Croydon Business Excellence Awards 2017, we have been shortlisted for The Cultural Impact Award.
will celebrate businesses and organisations which enrich our community and create a positive perception of Croydon through cultural activity.
The judges will be looking for the level of impact and the resulting benefits for Croydon of any cultural project. They will also look for evidence of how the organisation or project engaged with people, and the numbers who took part.
This new category, sponsored by Rise Gallery, has been introduced to reflect the many great cultural initiatives already happening in Croydon, as well encouraging more businesses and organisations to engage with the cultural development of the borough.
Rise Gallery Director Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison says art and culture are crucially important to the economy of Croydon. He commented: “A rich cultural offer not only enhances the town’s identity, it makes it more attractive to visitors, as well as those who live and work in the borough.”
When the gallery opened in December, it was our goal to create a community gallery offering a range of activities to the people of Croydon by way of regular exhibitions showcasing up and coming artists throughout the borough and beyond.
We wanted the gallery to be a family friendly place that is positive, uplifting, and something the community can be part of and proud of. With workshops for all ages and skill levels and Live Art Saturday’s which gives the artist a platform and the public an opportunity to come and meet with the artists and watch their creative process.
We still have two more stages to get through but it means so very much to get this far and its nice to know we are making a positive contribution to SE25.
