What a journey it has been!
When we opened the gallery in December 2016, it grew and flourished into
something beyond my imagination.
I have worked alongside some truly amazing creative souls from all over the world and some have become friends, almost family.
Family is so important to me and being able to share each moment alongside my mother Maggie is something I will cherish forever.
My step-father Michael is the whole reason I opened the gallery, he saw the competition to win a shop advertised in the paper, so I entered in his honour. I also cherish the moments we have shared over the last 3 years and it's been so special to also have him by my side.
Huge thanks to you and lots of love to you both!
Running the gallery has opened my eyes to many different techniques and I tried things I hadn't done since my school years, like Lino Cutting!
Thank you Zoe Parker for hosting those amazing workshops.
It’s been great to have young creatives come to the gallery for workshops and school visits, they have inspired me and brought many joyful moments to the gallery.
We also won a Timeout Love London award for No.1 Culture Spot
in South Norwood as voted by the locals, that felt amazing.
Thank you to the community that helped make that happen and
showed us so much love when we opened.
It is, however, time to move on.
I am also an artist and have exhibited many many times both in the UK and abroad. I know how it feels to put yourself out there to be judged, I know what it's like to have a creative block, I recognise the buzz you get as an artist on opening night and how it can become addictive. I know the anticipation of making that sale and the disappointment when it does not materialise. But my focus isn't the sale, it's the connections and contacts.
It is the exposure my work gets and the fact that it could happen a whole year after the event (which has happened to me, just as I was having a low frustrated moment because things were not happening at the speed I wanted or even needed them to).

I will be sourcing art for clients, working with artists by way of mentoring
and workshops, hosting events with a chosen few from time to time.
Whilst tapping in to my own creativity and artistic growth.
So, much as we will no longer have a physical location,
Elizabeth James Gallery will now go on tour!
our final exhibition is by Croydon contemporary artist Nasha Bradshaw
he will be showcasing his personal favourites, vibrant enchanting pieces that document his progression in his technique and skill since
Elizabeth James Gallery opened in 2016.
Nasha Bradshaw has been a regular feature at the gallery since the doors opened and is passionate about its place in the community of South Norwood SE25.
